Is that an Oasis in Port Everglades?
Posted Fri, Nov 13th 2009, 12:01Yes, actually the largest Oasis I have ever seen. This morning I had the great pleasure of witnessing the newest and largest ship in the world arrive at her brand new home port in Port Everglades, FL (Fort Lauderdale).
Oasis of the Seas approached the inlet near John U. Lloyd State Park with all the fanfare becoming such a grand vessel. Local fireboats saluted the ship as many other boats and spectators were on hand to welcome the 220,000 ton marvel of engineering.
Over the next week, some 12,275 live plants, trees and vines will be installed in incredible outdoor venues like the Boardwalk and Central Park onboard the Oasis. The Boardwalk, reminiscent of what you would find in Atlantic City, offers guests the opportunity to rekindle their inner child and sample "carnival-style" fare and even ride a custom carousel.
Central Park has much of the character of its namesake and features several dining options, shops and entertainment venues.
I will be back next week after a short preview cruise with a full review and pictures of the Oasis and her amazing interior and exterior features. In the meantime, here are some pictures from today's arrival festivities.
